Who We Are
Ethiopian Electric Utility is a fully government-owned enterprise, founded in 2014 and built to electrify every corner of Ethiopia. Twelve years on, it remains the country's distributor and seller of electricity.
Our mandate runs from the 45/66 kV sub-transmission network, down through the medium and low-voltage distribution grid, to the meter on the wall — taking in new connections, metering, billing, power sales and account management along the way.
Universal electrification is the goal that shapes all of it: reliable power reaching every household, school and business in every region, backed by customer support around the clock. Roughly 97% of urban Ethiopia is connected today.
